I finished Wicked last night.

I was really sad that it ended. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would based on some early comments about the novel from other members. Yes, in places it was hard going and I admit to skim reading in a couple of places for a page or two, but on the whole it was rather quite magical. Although I knew what was going to happen in the end I was still rather dismayed when it did! The novel really did challenge my perception of The Wizard of Oz and I can't wait to watch it with fresh eyes, so much so that I've asked for a copy of the DVD for Christmas.

Any other thoughts?

I thought it ended rather abruptly, and it felt like the author was rushed since he already knew what the outcome "had" to be.

As for the story line, I really enjoyed the tiktok things and the Animals vs. animals... very in depth of Maguire.

I really enjoyed this book too and was rather sad that it suddenly ended. I did, however, find it a very very hard read. I personally struggled with it but I did read it from cover to cover.

I love how much of a back story has been added to the world of Oz and so I would agree it would be lovely to see The Wizard of Oz afresh.

I found myself wanting to know more about the scarecrow though, since Elphie herself couldn't puzzle him out. I also really enjoyed the Animals vs. animals storyline.

As you can tell, I'm not very good at reviewing a book. Never have before *goes off in search of the questions Simone asked*
